Classical Vocalist Lata Shikhar along with Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Shri Anup Jalota announced the details of ‘Swar Naad’, a grand classical event, organised by Taranginee Arts to be held in Mumbai from Dec 9th – Dec 15th at Chitrakoot Grounds, Andheri. The 7-day mega Classical extravaganza will have some of the best known names in Indian Classical Music performing, which include legends such as Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia (flute), Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan & Ayaan Ali Khan (Sarod); Ustaad Rashid Khan saab (Classical Vocals), Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra (Khayal); Dr. Jagdish Gangani (Indian Classical Dance); Sharmistha Mukherjee (Kathak Dancer, President of India Pranab Mukherjee’s Daughter) & Classical Vocalists Lata Shikhar (thumri, tappa, dadra, kajri, holi) & Pt. Ram Kumar Mishra.

 

Announcing the concert Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia said “This event will help popularise Classical Music amongst the youth and bring forth the talent in Indian Classical Music to a larger audience. India has tremendous talent & potential in Music and this has to be nurtured by encouraging youngsters to take it up professionally. Bringing together the great exponents of Indian Classical Music, Culture and Dance on one stage, should inspire the younger generation to dedicate themselves to the arts and keep our rich cultural heritage intact.”

 

Founder of Taranginee Arts & renowned classical vocalist Lata Shikhar added “We hope to make this an annual event, where some of the best known names in Indian Classical Music will come together to showcase their talents. Indian Classical Music has to keep pace with the demands of the new generation, if it has to flourish in the years to come. The unique guru-shishya tradition & Gurukul system of Indian Music has to be made popular with the younger generation so that the vast knowledge & craft is preserved and nurtured. Hence, we decided to hold the event in an open ground for the public at large with free entry for everyone so that they can enjoy the truly greats of Indian music on one platform across the 7 days”
