  • Paresh Maity receives ‘Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture & Education, 2012’

    New Delhi: The Dayawati Modi Foundation for Art, Culture and Education has announced that this year’s Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education will be conferred upon noted painter Mr. Paresh Maity, in recognition of his contribution towards field of painting.

    With over 60 solo shows in different parts of the globe and India, including London, New York, Singapore, Germany, Hungary, Paris and Russia, he is known for his signature strokes that bold and graphic often marked with a strong colour and unusual cropping. In his early years, he worked in watercolours capturing different locations. His works range from landscapes to representations of the human form.

    He has been felicitated by various national and international institutions, including the Royal Watercolour Society, London in 2002, All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society and British Council among others. Mr. Maity is also a recipient of several awards, including a gold medal from the former USSR, Special Recognition Award from Government of West Bengal, Jamini Roy Birth Centenary Celebration Award, Governor’s Gold Medal the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, National Scholarship Award of Government of India, Birla Academy of Art and Culture Award, Pt. Ravishankar Award from College of Art, New Delhi, Indo American Society Award, Harmony Award, Mumbai and many others.

    Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education carries a prize of Rs. two lakh and fifty one thousand, the scroll of honour and a silver shield which will be presented to Mr. Paresh Maity on November 26th, 2012 at Shri Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
