  • PG Electroplast Ltd commences commercial production of Outdoor Units for Room Air Conditioners

    Published on February 11, 2021

PG Electroplast Ltd (PGEL) recently has started commercial production for manufacturing of Room Air Conditioner Outdoor Units (ODUs) at its newly setup unit at its existing Ahmednagar Plant in Maharashtra. The new unit comes as an upgrade to the existing plant that used to only manufacture indoors units for Room Air Conditioners. This development will enable PGEL to manufacture complete air conditioner box units and the same will be delivered to existing and new clients like Amstrad.

The initial installed capacity of the state-of-the-art facility is 600,000 Room Air Conditioner Outdoor Units per annum. The new facility will strengthen PGEL’s position amongst its peers and is expected to generate an additional revenue of over INR 100 crore for the company in the first year of its operations. It is also expected to generate over 200 jobs locally.

Commenting the commencement, Mr. Vikas Gupta, Executive Director, PG Electroplast Ltd. said, “The AC industry in India is growing at a great pace, creating various avenues of opportunities for the EMS players in India. The growth is further strengthened by the “Vocal for Local” initiatives undertaken by the government in an attempt to help the nation become self-reliant. The government’s Phased Manufacturing Plan is increasingly bringing the manufacturing and increased value addition for these items and parts into India, which earlier were majorly imported from other countries. It gives us immense pride to be a part of this movement and do our bit to see an Atmanirbhar India.”

“Considering the current environment, we believe there is a huge potential for domestically produced quality air conditioners. We are looking forward to expand our production capacity in this space and explore the option of exports of our products,” he further added.

PGEL plans to install heat exchanger lines to add capacities for condensers to have an integrated facility dedicated to manufacturing ODUs. This will enable the company to contribute in reducing the AC equipment imports in the country and position India as an export hub in the segment.

Until a few years back, the company used to mainly be a plastic component supplier for all the leading brands in the Indian Consumer Durables and Automotive Industry. Today, PG Electroplast has transformed into a one-stop solution provider for all leading Indian and global brands and has developed end-to-end capabilities to be able to provide complete OEM and ODM products like Washing Machines, Room ACs, Air-Coolers and LED TVs with top class features like extended durability, effective performance, aesthetic looks, and low power consumption. It has also grown to become one of the largest plastic moulding suppliers in the Consumer Durables and Electronics industry in India. The company has 6 manufacturing facilities across India in Greater Noida, Roorkee and Ahmednagar.
