The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link, is the latest in a series of infrastructure projects aimed at catalysing economic growth and development in the financial capital of India.  Inaugurated on January 12th 2024, the MTHL is poised to redefine transportation dynamics within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, particularly between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The MTHL embodies a triumph of engineering ingenuity and innovation. Constructed under two distinct contracts awarded to industry giants Larsen & Toubro and Tata Projects, the bridge stands as a testament to collaborative effort and expertise. Moreover, the construction of the bridge incorporates the game-changing Japanese Orthotropic Steel Deck (OSD) technology, elevating its robustness, resilience and longevity.

Boosting connectivity

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has emerged as a hotspot for real estate investments. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), estimates that the MTHL will cater to approximately 70,000 vehicles daily, underscoring its significance as a critical lifeline of transportation infrastructure. Furthermore, the long-term impact of the MTHL extends beyond mere convenience, with a significant reduction in travel time between Mumbai and Pune. Commuters can benefit from a substantial 90-minute reduction in travel time between iconic destinations such as Lonavala, Khandala, and Mumbai, unlocking new realms of accessibility and convenience.
