Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Ahmedabad on Friday to preside over the 46th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) in Ahmedabad.

The top business school, celebrating its golden jubilee, had invited the Prime Minister to be the chief guest at the ceremony and the invitation has been accepted by him.

Governor Kamla and Modi will also be present at the event.

Dr. Singh will be the third Prime Minister to preside over the IIM-A’s convocation function after Indira Gandhi (1968) and PV Narasimha Rao (1993).

The PM is slated to deliver the convocation address, an IIM-A official said.

Dr. Singh is also scheduled to visit ISRO facilities located on Satellite Road in Ahmedabad and interact with scientists.

Tight security arrangements have been made for the PM’s visit, police officials said.
