    Priya Dutt Inaugurated the Illumination of the Polio Eradication Awareness Campaign “END POLIO NOW” on World Polio Day! A Rotary International Initiative!

    World Polio Day – 24 October! Partners, governments, civil society and communities worldwide are today marking Priya Dutt, Dr. Bharat Pandya, (India National Polioplus Committee)  Lata Subraidu, (Governor Rotary Club) with Mr. Ashok Mahajan (Rotary Club) on World Polio Day  DSC_5099World Polio Day, as efforts to eradicate this disease once and for all are being intensified. One such incredible effort is by the Rotary International.

    In 2013, there are reasons both for celebration and concern. There has been remarkable progress over the last year, bringing us closer than ever to achieving a polio-free world.  Dr. Bharat Pandya, Member of India National Polioplus Committee along with our District Governor Lata Subraidu come together on World Polio Day to celebrate the completion of zero polio cases in the coming January by proudly projecting the Rotary Logo & End Polio Now Message on Mumbai’s prominent landmark Taj Lands End Hotel, Bandra.

    The Illumination Event attended by the dignitaries & past Rotarians with gracious presence of Past Rotary International Director; Shri Ashok Mahajan. Dr. Bharat Pandya proudly mentions, “To date, Rotary has contributed more than $1.2 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2 billion children – and our work continues.  Rotary clubs worldwide continue to raise funds for critical polio eradication activities. I take immense pride in putting up the Rotary Logo to acknowledge the deeds done by our volunteers & to spread awareness about polio eradication.”

    Addressing the media lens, Dr, Pandya further adds, “With your participation and support, we feel that there would be significant interest in this event, particularly given the determined effort of Rotary volunteers to raise the funds needed to fight polio in this last, most difficult stage of the eradication initiative.”
