  • Raj Royals to file FIR againt 3 arrested players for cheating public

    sree--santhRajasthan Royals have decided to file an FIR against three of its players, S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan who were arrested on Wednesday night in Mumbai by the Delhi police on charges of spot fixing.

    Delhi police have said that the trio during interrogation have confessed to spot fixing but the confessions are not admissible in a court of law as they have not been recorded before a magistrate.

    Delhi police have alleged that while Sreesanth had been offered upto Rs. 60 lakhs just for giving away pre-determined number of runs in an over.

    The decision to file the FIR was told to BCCI by the Royals owners who attended the meet and briefed the working committee on the incident.

    Going deep into its IPL spot-fixing probe, Mumbai Police are examining the footages from close circuit television cameras fitted at the city hotel where Sreesanth and his friend and alleged bookie Jiju Janardhan were staying for possible leads.

    Sreesanth had independently checked into a five star hotel in suburban Mumbai last Monday along with Jiju Janardhan.

    The two were arrested on Wednesday by a special team of Delhi police.

    Mumbai police meanwhile have seized a laptop, an ipad, and a mobile phone of speedster Sreesanth, one of the three arrested cricketers, from the hotel where he was held.

    Addressing the media, Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said that Mumbai crime branch may book Sreesanth in a spot fixing case registered by it and seek his custodial interrogation.

    Meanwhile, Delhi Police have despatched teams to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Hyderabad to track the money trail in the IPL spot-fixing case.

    Police also conducted raids for the second time at the Faridabad residence of Ajit Chandila, one of the three arrested cricketers.

    Investigators are also looking into the bank accounts of the players to trace the flow of money and are trying to find out how it was spend.

    TV footages of three matches in question from the official broadcaster were also sought by the police.

    Sreesanth and the other two cricketers — Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila– were arrested in Mumbai on Thursday by Delhi Police for allegedly spot-fixing IPL matches for payments of up to Rs. 60 lakh just for giving away pre-determined number of runs in an over.
