New Delhi : Ramnavami, the birthday of Lord Ram is being celebrated today with religious fervour and gaiety. In Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama is the centre of attraction for lakhs of pilgrims who are visiting prominent temples including Sri Ram Lala Temple after taking dip in holy Saryu river.

In Jharkhand, large and colourful processions are being taken out in different towns where people will show their skills of using swords- both in defensive and offensive style.

In capital Ranchi festivity is in air since Saturday after the “Astami Jhankis” were carried out. Similarly, in other towns like Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Chatra, voluntary organizations have come forward to celebrate the festival in the spirit of harmony.

Administration has made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order.

The President and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion.
