  • ‘Ravi Chary Crossing’ enthralls audience

    Hyderabad : The ‘Ravi Chary Crossing’ performance presented an amazing confluence of the Sitar with Drums, Keyboard and Tabla and enthralled the audience here at the Ashiana Banquets, Banjara Hills in city on Saturday Ravi Cahri, A sitarist of International repute entertained Hyderabadis with his superb performanceevening. Internationally acclaimed Sitar Player Ravi Chary unraveled the various facets of music with the satiating blend of jazz with Indian music. The extraordinary sitarist played compositions from his debut world music album ‘Ravi Chary Crossing’ for which seventeen music stalwarts had collaborated in making the album including Sangeet Haldipur, Mukul Dongre and Satyajit Talwalkar. Organised by Hydourite, an initiative celebrating the spirit of Hyderabad with 100 days of celebrations, ‘Ravi Chary Crossing’ took the audience for a musical joy ride with the renowned Ravi Chary on Sitar, Sangeet Haldipur with his magical fingers on the Keyboard, Ace drummer Mukul Dongre known for his creative and unconventional approach on the Drums, and the talented Satyajit Talwalkar loved by the audiences as a musical genius on the Tabla.

    Son of the late Pt. Prabhakar Chari, a noted tabla player, academician & musicologist of Goa, Ravi Chary started playing Sitar at the age of five and has performed with great Indian musicians including Ustad Allah Rakha, Kishori Amonkar, Ustad Sultan Khan, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Louis Banks, Sivamani, etc. on various projects. His innate creative talent and enthusiasm for innovation has led him to perform with internationally acclaimed artistes from diverse musical cultures at major music festivals like WOMAD, Glastonbery Festival etc. worldwide. He has also played alongside a host of incredible international talent including Robert Miles, Angelique Kidjo and Kai Eckhardt.

    Hydourite is an initiative celebrating the spirit of Hyderabad with ‘100 days of celebrations’. In the coming days it will play host to exquisite performances from varied fields of art, dance, music, theatre and much more  informed Achanta V. Ramakrishna, Manoj Chandrasekhar and Capt. Anand, the people behind Hydourite.

    Hydourite means ‘Our Hyderabad, Our Favourite’. Hydourite which is in its second year celebrates the spirit of Hyderabad and will have ‘100 days of celebrations’ with various kinds of events woven around the spirit of Hyderabad. Hydourite has been conceived to get together all the Hyderabad loving people on to a single platform, to feel the rich diversity of this great city through various events and thereby feel proud of being a Hyderabadi. Hydourite, as part of its 100 Days of Celebrations, will create and present various events woven around the spirit of Hyderabad. A spirit which reverberates – ‘Me and My Hyderabad’.

    In the coming days Hydourite will have exquisite performances from varied fields of art, dance, music, theatre and much more. Some of the programs lined up as part of Hydourite 2013 include World Fusion Music performance by Prem Joshua & Band; an epic Dance Drama by Padmasri Shobana; Samarpan — musical offering by many youthful master musicians; Sapthakshara — a Mélange of South Indian Classical Percussion; Piya Behroopiya – a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night; etc.
