CNN-IBN, in partnership with Reliance Foundation and Hindustan Times, once again brings to you Real Heroes, an annual initiative that honours the brave and selfless citizens of our country who have worked unconditionally towards making the society a better place to live in. In its sixth edition, the awards will honour 12 unsung women heroes of India and one lifetime achievement awardee, whose persistent efforts in diverse fields have made a difference.

This week’s episode of Real Heroes features the inspirational stories of Bhanwari Devi, who was gangraped in front of her husband for doing her job that involved discouraging child marriage in her village; Sabbah Haji, who left a comfortable job and life in Bangalore to set up a school in her ancestral village in Jammu & Kashmir; K S Sarojamma, who put an end to child labour in Karnataka’s silk factories and Kabita Bhattarai, who embraces lepers and rebuilds their lives by giving them free medical care, a home and dignity.
