As a part of Earth Day celebrations, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Scholar and Environment Activist visited the Heritage Institute of Technology today on 24th April for an interactive session on the topic ‘ Earth, Democracy and Rights of Nature’. Dr. Shiva was welcomed by Mr. Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Institute of Technology and Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal of the Institute. The event was supported by Institution’s Innovation Cell and IQAC, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata.

During the programme, Dr. Vandana Shiva

gave an insight to how soil content in India is eroding to a greater extent and how organic farming is beneficial for the society at large. Citing the examples of our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the Salt movement, Satyagraha, despite hurdles, she brought out the truth that had saved the rights of the farmers in our Country.

“We feel proud to have Dr. Vandana Shiva at our campus. Despite her busy schedule, she came and addressed the students on various topics that are pertinent for them to know and be aware. It is the duty of today’s youth to take care of Mother Nature do that the future remains protected,” said Mr. Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
