  • Hyderabad:  8th September is World Literacy Day.  IWC Secunderabad and Rotary Hyderabad Midtown decided to celebrate it in a big way and encourage many children to get back to school.

    demo11Noted cine actor Sumant along with members of Innerwheel club of Secunderabad and Rotary Club of Hyderabad Midtown distributed sports items, books for the library, shoes and socks and notebooks for all the children of  Government Primary School, MG nagar.

    On this occasion Mr. Sumant interacted with the children and motivated them to study well. Adult literacy kits were distributed to the parents of the children and the people staying in the basti. Little children were thrilled to received shoes, socks, sports items, notebooks from Sumant.

    Teachers were honoured by the chief guest, Mr Sumant with Nation Builder Awards Certificate for their dedicated and commitment to educate the  children in these government schools.

    Ms. Swarnalatha , President of IWC Secunderabad committed to support teacher training and volunteer teachers and other teacher support for the school and eye check up for the children in association with LV Prasad Eye Institute.

    Ms Seema Kumar, President of Rotary Club of Hyderabad Midtown also extended support towards adult education, e learning and dental check up for the children in association with Partha Dentals.

    The Inner Wheel Club of Secunderabad, dist 315, has a tradition of excellence in successful service for the last 30 years to the underprivileged in our society. Our Club represents a diverse cross-section of women leaders, who dedicate their time and resources to a large range of community and service projects to build Happier Futures.

    International Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s service voluntary organisations in the world. IIW is active in over 103 countries, with more than 100,000 members in 3895 clubs.

    Inner Wheel has taken up a new challenge of Literacy Mission – TEACH Program. The Program includes

    T – Teacher Support

    E – E Learning

    A – Adult Education

    C – Child Development

    H – Happy Schools

    To implement this TEACH Program, they have adopted many schools and one such is Government Primary School, MG Nagar.

    The objective is to equip these Schools with facilities like :-

    1.  Footwear, Uniforms, Bags and Books

    2.  Benches

    3.  Library

    4.  Clean & safe drinking water

    5.  Separate toilets for girls & boys with wash basins, hand wash , napkins

    6.  Sports equipment

    7.  Teachers’ Room

    8.  Whitewash and Maintenance for school

    9. Implement e-Learning

    These facilities will attract children from the nearby localities and different sections of society to join the Government schools and get the same type of facilities and education available in Private schools.

    As part of the Literacy Day Celebrations-I W Club of Secunderabad supports the Literacy Drive to make every one of their involved Schools a HAPPY SCHOOL.
