  • Sadhuram Eye Hospital is in the service of free eye care for four decades

    Hyderabad:  Lions Club of Hyderabad Sadhuram Eye Hospital which has been providing free eye care services for the past three decades is to celebrate 37th Annual Day on June 26th here at its premises in Domalguda, Hyderabad.  Dr. D. L. Ravindra Reddy, Minister of Medical & Health Services, Government of Andhra Pradesh will grace the function informed Mr. Gurucharan Bhavani, Secretary of Lions Club of Hyderabad Sadhuram Eye Hospital, Charitable Trust and Post Graduate Institute of Opthalmogy in a press note issued in city today.  Sadhuram is a charitable non-profit organisation committed to provide quality eye care services for poor and needy to prevent blindness in India, he added.

    To mark the occasion and celebrate the same, a function will be held on 26th June morning at 10 AM at its Ranji & Bhavani Auditorium in the hospital. Mr. Y. Sivarama Sastry, a Freedom Fighter and Senior Advocate and Lion R. Sunil Kumar, Lions International Director-Endorsee will also grace the function. Lion B.S. Krishna Reddy, Chairman of the Trust will also grace the function.

    Sadhuram Eye Hospital is currently a 80 bed hospital with two air conditioned operation theatres. These are fully equipped with best eye care equipment. It also has S.L. Mishra Memorial  Eye Bank, which it added during its 25th year.  Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has recognised this hospital for Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Programme.

    Over the 37 years the hospital has performed 2,25,000 various kinds of eye surgeries.  Seventy per cent of these eye operations were done totally free of cost to the poorest of the poor of the society.  It has been conducting eye camps regularly around 125 kms radius of the hospital benefitting many poor patients. It has two fully equipped mobile operation theatre and supported by 14 Doctors and about 65 para medical staff informed Mr. Gurucharan Bhavani,

    Sadhuram Eye hospital recently acquired Ocular Coherence Tomography, Sovereign Compact Phacoemulsificaiton and Reticare Posterior Vitrectomy equipment to provide better eye care.

    Sadhuram Eye Hospital was the brainchild of Shri Sadhuram Alimchand, a successful entrepreneur with a flourishing business in West Indies. One day, he dreamt of a blind child painfully finding this way on an empty street. The image stirred something deep in him and he pursued the project. After disposing some property, his wife Kalavati pursued it further after the her husband’s death. Formed  Kalavati Sadhuram Alimchand Trust which eventually was realised with the support of The Lions Club of Hyderabad along with many service minded reputed Eye Surgeons in its fold. Ultimately the hospital was inaugurated on 16th June, 1974.

Krishna Reddy, Chairman and Board of Governors of Sadhuram Eye Hospital.  Our future aim is to have a Super Specialty 100 bedded hospital providing a state of Art Eye Care at an affordable cost.

    The Trust appeals to like minded people contribute donations which are Tax Exempted under 80G.  The donors can contribute Rs 2,400/- and get Cataract operations for 3 patients.
