  • Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation awards $225,644 to 92 agencies throughout Connecticut; Over $2.25 million donated since 2004

    DANBURY, CT:The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation has awarded a total of $225,644 to 92 different non-profit agencies throughout Connecticut as part of an annual tradition first established in 2004.

    In 2004, the Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation was established to support local non-profit agencies that reflect the core values of the Bank.  The Foundation provides grants to support a wide range of initiatives and programs in the areas of Affordable Housing, Arts & Culture, Community Services & Economic Development, Education, and Health & Human Services.  Since its establishment, the Foundation has awarded more than $2.25 million to organizations making a positive difference in our communities. This year’s total represents an increase of 3.39% in contributions over the previous year.

    “As a community bank, it is important for us to do more than provide quality banking services, we must also be good neighbors and citizens and give back to the communities we serve,” stated Martin G. Morgado, President and CEO of Savings Bank of Danbury. “At Savings Bank of Danbury we have always put a strong emphasis on community service, team building and cultural activities that promote a positive work environment inside and outside of the Bank. We are fortunate to have assisted these wonderful community organizations in a very challenging year.”

    The Foundation Grants Committee meets once a year to review requests. Awards are made to eligible 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. The 2021 Foundation Grant Application will be available in the summer of 2021. Any organization interested in being considered should review the application’s checklist and include all of the elements listed on the application.
