  • Seminar on Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery Management @ IIT Delhi

    New Delhi : Department of Management studies, IIT Delhi in collaboration with Sanovi Technologies, the market leader in Disaster Recovery Management software, has organized a national seminar on ‘Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery Management’ at Vishwakarma Bhavan, IIT Delhi Campus.

    The conference brought together the Business Continuity /Disaster Recovery practitioners from the industry, academia, and the government. The key focus of the seminar was to create awareness about IT Disaster Recovery Landscape, DR Technology-state of art and Understanding DR needs and experiences. Through this one day conference Sanovi sought to lay a foundation for a holistic approach for IT Disaster Recovery Management. .

    Presenting the keynote on the occasion, Shri R.S. Sharma, Mission Director, UIDAI gave a riveting account of the scope and technology that powers the Aadhaar project. He quoted: “The two recovery metrics of Recovery Time and Recovery Point were very stringent for the Aadhaar number authentication services and that the platform has been designed from ground up to meet its recovery service levels.”

    Shri Ajay Sawhney, President & CEO, National eGovernance Division – DIT, presented the central framework for Disaster Recovery solutions for the State Datacentres (SDCs) and said: “We have formulated strategies for enabling Disaster Recovery for SDCs. NIC is setting up four national level Datacentres to serve as DR Datacentres to all SDCs. This process has begun. Some of the states are already in discussions with NIC to take this forward.”

    During his opening remarks, Professor M. P. Gupta, Chair-Information Systems Group, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) said: “The National Seminar on Disaster recovery is a joint effort to create awareness about its importance and necessity in the current working environment. IT Infrastructure is a significant and inevitable part of any enterprise.

    “During a disaster, efficient backend support is required to maintain the momentum and sustain the business transactions. Indian companies though aware about Disaster Recovery Management concept, are still in the initial stages of adopting it as business strategy. I am sure this seminar will provide effective guidance.” he added

    Shri. Chandra Pulamarasetti, Founder & CEO, Sanovi Technologies, presented the holistic approach to IT Disaster Recovery involving the adoption of DR automation and DR Management software that reduces the business exposure to IT outages, which in turn decreases the operational costs and stress on DR teams.

    Commenting on the occasion, Shri. Ashis Guha, President of Sales, Sanovi Technologies said: “This National Seminar was a great platform to drive awareness about the importance of deploying IT Disaster Recovery solutions among companies in India. The message was percolated to an audience covering diverse segments like Government, BFSI, Telecom sectors, where IT plays a pivotal role in the core business.”
