  • Spring Orchestra 2024 inauguration at RGU

       Royal Global University emerged as a beacon of talent and excellence at the 37th Inter-University National Youth Festival hosted by Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana, organized under the esteemed Association of Indian Universities. From stirring debates to captivating elocution, RGU students showcased their prowess across various disciplines, clinching top honors. Dhiman Chakraborty and Arunima Dhar secured the 1st Prize in Debate, while Payel Sharma claimed the 2nd position in Elocution. Paimalie Chuilo’s artistic finesse earned RGU the 3rd position in Clay Modelling, while the collaborative efforts of Paimalie Chuilo, Prabhat Jyoti Gowala, Rakuyio Ariicho, and Rickyshi Suiam secured the 2nd position in Installation. Sanenti Longchari’s poster-making skills brought RGU another 2nd position. Faith Waltombi Ch Momin mesmerized the audience and secured 3rd place in Western Vocal Solo. Additionally, RGU was crowned the Overall Category Champion, clinching 3rd place in the Literary category. RGU students also showcased their talent in Classical Dance Solo and Folk Dance Group categories, contributing to the university’s vibrant presence and reinforcing its reputation for nurturing diverse talents on a national platform.

    The inaugural day of the Spring Orchestra 2024, a Poetry Festival organized by the Department of English , Royal School of Languages in collaboration with The Assam Tribune commenced with a sense of anticipation and reverence. The proceedings began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. Krishna Barua, the esteemed Dean of Royal School of Languages, setting the tone for a day brimming with literary fervour. The atmosphere was further enriched by a soulful dance performance of the Ganesh Vandana, followed by the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and creativity.

     Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. SP Singh, graced the occasion with his inspiring address, expressing that the reach of poetry extends far beyond those who are proficient in languages; its influence is expansive and inclusive. He further emphasized that poetry serves as a source of relief and solace for individuals navigating the complexities of life. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the team for providing a platform to budding poets and acknowledged their commendable efforts.

    The eagerly awaited moment arrived with the release of the much-awaited Springtime Poetry Collection: Volume 2, marking a celebration of literary expression and artistic endeavour.

    A thought-provoking panel discussion on “Poetry: Planet, People, and Peace” ensued, featuring eminent personalities such as Mr Madhu Raghavendra, Poet and Curator; Ms. Amanda B Basaiawmoit, Associate Professor at the Department of English, Shillong College, Meghalaya; and Ms. Meenakshi Goswami, Professor at CNS HS School, Sonitpur. Their insightful deliberations shed light on the transformative power of poetry in addressing contemporary issues and fostering a sense of global unity.

    The festival also offered a unique opportunity for aspiring poets to hone their craft through a poetry workshop conducted by the esteemed Mr. Madhu Raghavendra. Additionally, the Poetry Recital Competition, titled “Bards Banquet,” provided a platform for participants to showcase their lyrical prowess.  Students from more than 25 colleges participated in the Poetry Recital Competition. The panel of judges, comprising Dr. Arunav Barua, Academic and Poet; Dr. Stuti Goswami; Mr. Sattyakee D’Com Bhuyan; and Mr. Srawan Goenka, brought their expertise to the event, guiding and evaluating the performances with keen insight and appreciation. The poetry festival also witnessed captivating performances by bands, Sec 59, The Unknown and The Horizons adding a musical dimension to the celebration. The performances served as a reminder of the inherent connection between music and poetry.
