  • Pune:  SQS India, a subsidiary of SQS Group, has announced ambitious growth plans to increase its market share for independent software testing and quality assurance services.

Gireendra Kasmalkar, CEO of SQS India: “We are delighted to announce that the first phase of our purpose built 60,000 square feet facility was inaugurated on 22 June 2011 by SQS Group CEO and co-founder Rudolf van Megen.

The additional space will seat 350 software testing team members and help us to build on a record year for SQS India in 2010, when our revenue doubled year-on-year and our team grew to over 400. The new facility is the first phase of our expansion over a complex of three new buildings, which will create space for 1,800 additional quality assurance engineers.”

The new facility represents SQS’ third test centre in India’s fast-growing IT hub in Pune, at Hinjewadi SEZ. SQS is already offering scalable, high-quality offshored testing from its test centre at Karve Road and existing facilities within the Hinjewadi SEZ building.

The expansion will create three new facilities totaling 60,000 square feet to accommodate quality assurance engineers from a combination of qualified testing personnel and new recruits, some of whom will come from the excellent academic institutions nearby.

Driving the expansion is demand from international clients for SQS’ Pune based Test Automation FaQtory® and managed services offerings. The Test Automation FaQtory®, launched in May 2010 in Pune’s Special Economic Zone, offers large-scale automation with output-based pricing. US customer Siemens PLM already benefits from the FaQtory®, with an agreement in place which will continue to cover tens of thousands of cases over the next few years. The FaQtory® concept is also being introduced to SQS’ existing and new clients. At the recent PLM World conference in Las Vegas, Siemens PLM presented SQS as its QA and testing partner.

SQS India has secured major engagements with international companies including Specsavers, the largest optical retailer in the UK, and from Swiss telecommunications company Sunrise.

Resulting from its specialist games and gaming industry sector expertise, the Indian team has won projects for leading US publishers of video games THQ and Warner Brothers Games.

This growth is also spurring on a recruitment drive for English and German speaking test consultants in Pune to support SQS’ multi-lingual on/offshore testing model.

SQS India has already held the ISO 9001 certification for seven years. “This year, the company, successfully achieved the ISO 27001 security certification, which is a huge testimony to our maturity as an off-shore facility,” concluded Gireendra Kasmalkar.

Rudolf van Megen, SQS Group CEO, said: “I’m delighted to be here to inaugurate this new Indian office. This facility which will ultimately hold 1,800 people underlines our commitment to growing a strong Indian offshore presence. These world class state-of-the art premises will act as a springboard for the next stage of our growth, and we are already planning construction of the next building on the site.”
