The Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi held its 90th Annual Day Celebration on April 18, 2016. SRCC has developed itself over the years and retains its prestigious position as the foremost of institutions dedicated to Commerce and Economics education in the country.
Aarohan, the Indian Classical Music Society of the college gave an auspicious beginning to the occasion with their rendition of the Ganesh Vandana. This was followed by the welcome speech by Chairman of the Governing Body, Shri Ajay S. Shriram. Dr. R.P. Rustagi, Principal of SRCC read out Annual Report, placing on record the academic and other achievements of the College for the academic year 2015-16.
Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India was the Chief Guest and in his address he gave a report card of his government’s performance over the last two years. Emphasising on thinking out of the box, he encouraged the young generation to “aim big and go for it”. He outlined India’s potential to lead the world in the field of energy efficiency.
Guinness World record holder for the longest marathon piano recital, Mrityunjay Sharma, a third year student of B.Com (H) of SRCC was also felicitated. Various college publications were also released starting with the Business Analyst (refereed journal of SRCC), followed by the 88th issue of Yamuna (The Annual College Magazine) and Prerna (Annual Magazine of National Service Scheme).
Awards were given to distinguished alumni: Dr. Sumat Prakash Aggarwal – Principal, Ramanujan College, Dr. M.M. Goyal – Principal, PGDAV College, Mr. Srivasta Krishna – lAS Leadership, Cyberabad Municipality, Mr. Narendra Kumar Chand – Additional Director, SFIO, Mr. Mayank Malik – Country Head, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, Mr. Anil P Goel- ED Finance, Taj Group of Hotels, Mr. Ajit Kumar Agarwal – Director, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited.
.Awards and merit prizes were given to students who excelled in academics, co curricular and extra-curricular activities. The eminent sportspersons of the college in various sports such as chess, basketball, table tennis, football, hockey etc. were also awarded. This was followed by a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Akash Mehta, President of Students’ Union, SRCC. The programme concluded with National Antem.
