The Indian Merchants’ Chamber jointly  with the Ladies’ Wing of IMC organized Swachh Sassoon Dock Campaign”,  an initiative organized by Indian Merchants’ Chamber’s Urban Development Committee. In full support of this initiative, IMC Ladies wing president Shalini Piramal lead a team of IMC members from the main chamber and the ladies wing in the ‘Swachh baharat’ drive. Also present was chief guest Mr. Y.A. Wanage- Deputy Chairman Mumbai Port Trust, Guest of honor Adv.Makarand Narwekar-Municipal Councilor and Pramod Pawle- Fishermen’s Union Leader.

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC), through its expert committee on Urban Development remains committed to help improve the eco system of Mumbai that the city and its residents deserve.

Last year, IMC’s Urban Development Committee took up the cause of a holistic development of the city’s Eastern front following the decision of the Ministry of Shipping of the government of India, to free Mumbai Port Trust Land for development to add civic amenities for citizens of Mumbai. This year, there is another welcome announcement from Hon’ble Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari of the sanction of Rs.52 crore for Modernization Project of Sassoon Dock, one of the most important docks for the city’s Economy. The uplift of this dock with greater and cleaner facilities will certainly help project positive image of the city.

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber along with the ladies wing of IMC wholeheartedly supports this initiative and would like to complement the government of India’s efforts towards betterment of this iconic dock of the city.
