  • New Delhi:  Eminent Hindi writer Shri Swadesh Deepak’s famous play ‘Sabse Udaas Kavita’ was staged at the Swadesh DeepakYuva Natya Samaroh today on what was the last but one day of the theater festival.

    The play was performed at this event under the direction of Mrityunjay Prabhakar.

    Being presented by Sahitya Kala Parishad and Department of Art, Culture & Languages, Delhi Government, the seven day festival of ‘yuva’ energy is showcasing some popular and widely performed plays, directed this time by young and promising directors of Indian theater.

    The seven day festival has revived some fine plays and stories in Indian literature under the aegis of young directors and artists. From Mahakavi Bhasa to Bhishm Sahni, a number of leading writers have featured in the festival.

    The festival will end tomorrow with a tragically inspiring story written by renowned writer Bhishm Sahni. Hanoosh, the story of the lock maker whose ambition is to make a clock is being directed by Himanshu B Joshi.

    “Some very fine stories have been told in Indian literature over the centuries which never fail to enchant the audience, no matter, how many times they are played out and narrated. At the Yuva Natya Samaroh, we have some such plays and stories that will get a new interpretation and meaning in the hands of young and remarkably talented Indian theater artists. We are featuring plays by eminent writers like Bhishm Sahni, Dushyant Verma and even the ancient literary genius Mahakavi Bhasa. In a way we are connecting our legacy of literature to contemporary Indian artists,” says Mr J P Singh, Assistant Secretary, Drama, Sahitya Kala Parishad.
