Hyderabad : Telangana Today English daily emerged overall champions by bagging maximum number of titles at the SLAN(Sports Local Area Network) Inter-Media sports meet, conducted in association with the Press Club of Hyderabad and sponsored by Vibrant Nissan, on Sunday.

Telangana Today defeated Namaste Telangana in the final of the six-a-side box cricket by 40 runs to lift the trophy. Batting first, Telangana Today posted an imposing total of 74/4 in six overs losing four wickets. In reply, Namaste Telangana managed just 34 runs losing three wickets.

Namaste Telangana in the round-robin stage won games against Raj News and Mana Telangana teams to reach the finals.

Telangana Today also did well by winning Gold in men’s doubles Carrom (Kapila Raghuram/G Shiva Krishna); Badminton doubles runners-up (Dinesh Akki/Kapila Raghuram), women’s singles gold (Himabindu), runners-up (D Madhuri).

Later distributing the prizes, Founder of SLAN, S P Subrahmanyam and Ms. Aparna Mulukunta, co-founder of SLAN, said more such tournaments would be held in different disciplines. They thanked the media and Press Club of Hyderabad as well as the sponsors Vibrant Nissan for extending support to the event.
