  • Chennai : Sri City, South India’s largest Integrated Business City consisting of a Multi Product SEZ, DTA and FTWZ today, had the distinct 16-07-2013 (2)privilege of welcoming the delegates of Thailand based Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFT), the training arm of Ministry of External Affairs, Thailand at Sri City.

    The 43 delegates who are undertaking the 10 week course in Thailand are senior officers from various Ministries and PSU’s such as Ministry of Commerce, Finance, Agriculture, Metro Authority, Electricity etc. After the completion of this course, they are posted as Joint Secretaries in the Thailand Government.

    “The fact that the Thai Ambassador and Consul General of Thailand in Chennai have both recommended Sri City speaks volumes of this upcoming Industrial City. We look at Sri City as a successful Industrial park which has overcome various challenges and have taken the first step towards inviting foreign investors into India. The delegates were very impressed and would recommend Sri City as a very favorable destination in the coming years to the investors who prefer to enter India” said Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Minister, Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi.

    “This is the first time such a delegation is visiting South India. Out of the ten weeks spent in training, a visit abroad with a friendly neighboring country is mandatory. Sri City was selected along with Infosys & ISB. The aim is for delegates to see developments in India,” said Mr. Dhiravat Bhumichitr, Director, DVIFT, Thailand.

    “We are very happy to have this delegation coming to Sri City. The sharing of experiences presented by Rockworth of Thailand who set up a unit in Sri City has made the delegates look at Sri City very positively. They felt there were opportunities for Thai companies to set up Units in Sri City,” according to a Sri City spokesman.
