    Mumbai : India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), the country’s apex body of pulses and grains industry & trade, announced THE PULSES CONCLAVE 2014, the second edition of their conclave for the global pulses industry and trade.

    The Pulses Conclave 2014, supported by the Government of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Photograph 2Consumer Affairs), will be hosted from February 19th to 21st, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt in Goa.

    Mr. Pravin Dongre, Chairman – IPGA speaking about The Pulses Conclave 2014 said, ‘India is the largest producer and importer of Pulses and the Conclave will serve as an ideal platform for the global and Indian stakeholders to CONVERGE at, CONNECT with each other and CAPITALISE on the plethora of business opportunities. The Conclave will enable stakeholders in the pulses sector plan their business strategies for the year ahead by networking with business associates from around the world.”

    The Pulses Conclave 2014 shall be inaugurated by Mr. Pankaj Agarwala; Secretary – Consumer Affairs and Mr. Hakan Bahceci, President – CICILS (Global Confederation) shall deliver the keynote address on ‘PULSES AND THEIR ROLE IN GLOBAL FOOD SECURITY’.  The highlight of the Conclave would be ‘Pulses Market & Price Outlook for 2014-2015’ by an eminent panel of experts.

     

    The Pulses Conclave 2014 will seek to refocus the attention of Indian policy makers on the pulses sector in terms of production, processing, distribution, value addition & nutritional aspects and bring to the fore issues that impact the pulses industry & trade as well as seek long-term sustainable solutions. At the international level, the Conclave will help propel IPGA to greater heights and invest it with an influential voice to play a constructive role in the global pulses sector.

     

    The Pulses Conclave 2014 will have three key components viz., a Seminar, an Exhibition and a series of B2B meetings between stakeholders. The seminar will comprise of a series of stimulating presentations by speakers from India and abroad as well as simulating panel discussions. The panel discussions will have policymakers, domain experts and agri-business professionals as panelists and will cover key areas like global agri-market drivers and price outlook.

     

    As a part of the conclave IPGA is organizing five (05) Panel discussions; one each on Peas, Desi Chick Peas, Urad / Moong / Tuvar, Kabuli Chick Peas and Red & Green Lentils. Each panel will include one representative each from India, the exporting countries and will present an outlook for the respective crop in their country. The panel discussion will conclude with a Price Outlook for the forthcoming year.

    Trade delegations from major pulses producing countries like Canada, Australia, Myanmar, Middle East, Russia, China and several African countries have confirmed their participation in the Conclave and are expected to make some key announcements. Each of these participating countries will also present a status report on the Pulses Industry in their respective countries, their crop outlook, export expectations, etc.

    A number of B2B meetings are expected to take place, with tremendous networking opportunity for pulses buyers & sellers as well as for service providers. As February is the month of India’s Rabi harvest, the Conclave will present an excellent opportunity for international delegates to participate in Crop tours which will be organised pre and post the event.

    The Pulses Conclave 2014 has already attracting a lot of attention from across the globe and a strong contingent of Indian and International delegates is expected to participate. The first edition of the Conclave held in 2012 saw the participation of over 700 delegates from Indian and abroad and the number of delegates participating in The Pulses Conclave 2014 is expected to cross 1000.
