  • Tourism Ministry celebrates World Heritage Day-2020 through a webinar series

    Ministry of Tourism celebrated the World Heritage Day-2020 today through a webinar series. Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel addressing participants through webinar quoted ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam’, the World is One, from the Maha Upanishad saying that India demonstrated its true spirit and humility through the help it extended to all the tourists stranded in the country since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

    He added that values of resolve and silent resilience is holding everyone together even in these testing times. Mr. Patel said, the values of humanity and warm hospitality define people of the country.

    Referring to Indian traditions of saying Namaste, entering home without shoes, taking bath before entering home, he said that these simple practices of precautions depict the deep and timeless wisdom of the country. During the first webinar, which was on ancient Temple City of Mamallapuram, the architectural and religious significance of the temples was highlighted by the panellists.

    The second webinar was titled World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism at Humayun’s Tomb.

    Mr Patel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Vision 2024’ has fixed the timeline for completing the work of enlisting, preserving and showcasing the deep and invaluable heritage and culture of country’s monuments and traditions.
