Mumbai:Bird’s Eye Systems, creators of Traffline have created another app for smart phones- ‘Ridlr’- , which is designed to make travelling within cities easier and more predictable for people using public transport systems. Ridlr plans & optimizes people’s travel around the city using buses, local trains, metros, and monorails. With Ridlr, people can locate the nearest stop and shows the latest time-tables of all modes of transportation and download them in the mobile phone as well. Ridlr will help people choose the fastest and most convenient way to reach their destination.

It will be the go-to app for getting real-time information and answering questions about all modes of public transport, be it buses, local trains, monorails or metros.

Ridlr is available for all Android smart phones, free of charge.

Elaborating further, Mr. Ravi Khemani, co-founder and CTO of Bird’s Eye Systems Pvt. Ltd. informed that with Ridlr, city dwellers can plan their travel using multiple modes of transport, if needed, well ahead of time. The time-tables of all public transport modes are readily available (and can be downloaded for offline use), along with regular updates about any changes in schedules. Users can compare travel times between different modes, and choose the one that suits them best. The app will tell them when they can expect the next train, bus or metro, and they can just press ‘Hop On’ when the chosen chariot arrives. Frequently used routes can be saved under Favourites for easy reference later. For example, users can save the route from office to home and check with Ridlr whenever they leave as to which mode will be fastest.

While inaugurating ‘Ridlr’, Dr. B.K Upadhay, Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic), Mumbai stated that public transportation in a big city can be tiring and confusing. If city people can have all the information and updates to plan their commute using one such App, not only does it help the individual but also the city to run more efficiently, lessening the burden on Traffic Dept.

Click ‘Hop On’ on your phone when you board a bus/train. The unique ‘Hop On’ feature on Ridlr has been inspired by the spirit of Mumbai which impels its citizens to help each other in times of need, ‘Hop On’ provides the database with the exact location of a bus or train, when a user presses it while boarding. This enables Ridlr to alert for all other people waiting for the same bus or train as to its actual location, so they know how long it will take. By using ‘Hop On’, users, in effect, create a dynamic information pool that makes Ridlr more accurate and helps fellow commuters on the Ridlr network. It also lets them alert their friends when they have boarded a bus, metro or train, using social networks and Whatsapp.

Designed to make the user experience as comfortable and convenient as possible, Ridlr has a sleek and attractive interface with all bonus features in an easy-access menu.

Presently, Ridlr covers two cities: Mumbai and Pune. In Mumbai, it covers BEST, NMMT and TMT bus timings, metro, monorail and local train schedules from VT to Karjat and Churchgate to Virar. In Pune, it covers PMPML bus timings and local train schedules.
