    Published on September 5, 2013

Mumbai : Spread over 15,000 square feet, nestled within the busy business hub of Sun Mill Compound at Lower Parel, Mumbai, the large purple Auditorium at TSMsignage of the True School of Music looks inviting. It adds much needed colour to the Compound in more ways than one.

The much awaited True School of Music, India’s first comprehensive institute of contemporary music with state-of-the-art infrastructure and partnerships with the Manhattan School of Music (MSM), New York and Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), UK has opened its portals to students.

There will be international resident faculty from MSM and the sound engineering and music production courses have been developed by ACM, UK.

The School has separate class rooms for guitars, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals, as well as an India room for sitar, harmonium, bansuri, tabla and vocals. There are also band rehearsal rooms, individual practice rooms and an in-house auditorium for performances and master classes.

True School of Music is the brainchild of Ashutosh Pathak (Ashu), a renowned music composer himself, and Nitin Chandy, a Sound Engineer by profession.

The course curriculum of the school has been designed by some of the best names in the world of contemporary music specially for The True School.

The School has 2 schools within it – Professional School: 5 western instruments (keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and vocals), Music Production including composition, DJ and Live Sound Engineering. Foundation School: 5 western instruments (keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and vocals) and 5 Indian instruments (Harmonium, Tabla, Sitar, Flute and Vocals). This Foundation School is graded according to the Trinity College 9 grade Rock & Pop curriculum, which features an initial course and 8 grades.

It is the professional programme that will truly be the game-changer. Our faculty will include international teachers as well as many industry experts from India who are already steeped in the business of music. Once students join the professional programme, they will intern on live projects from these music composers, producers and directors who are part of our faculty. The natural progression will be professional assignments coming their way as soon as they get a Certification from The True School of Music.

The Foundation School classes begin from 16 September while the Professional School classes will begin from 23rd September, 2013.
