New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has said yesterday that North Eastern states of the country have unlimited potentialities of agriculture and Centre is focusing exclusively on the development of agricultural sector in the region.

Inaugurating the Regional Agriculture Fair, 2016-17 at the Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba in Imphal, the Minister said that Narendra Modi Government at the Centre is implementing a number of agriculture related programmes in this region keeping in view the potentialities of organic farming.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan also mentioned the agriculture related schemes and projects taken up by the NDA Government at the Centre like Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav; Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Soil Health Card and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, strengthening of Krishi Vigyan Kendras as well as extension of agricultural education.

He said, the focus of the Regional Agriculture Fair is to bring about a second Green Revolution, organic as well as integrated farming methodologies. The Minister said that there is tremendous potentiality for beekeeping in the North-East. He also said that the National Bee Board and Agriculture Ministry have decided to set up an Integrated Bee Keeping Development Centre at the Central Agriculture University.
