Wayanad Tourism  Organisation, a premier stake holders consortium was formed in 2000 to promote sustainable tourism practices in Wayanad.

WTO believes in tourism that will give enhanced tourism experience to the visitors and yet improve livelihood of local community through good tourism practices, that positively impact social, economic and environmental indices.

WTO plays a prominent role in tourism promotion of the district by virtue of being in many of the government advisory bodies.
What Wayanad is today as a tourism destination, is largely due to the sustained efforts of WTO with government and trade partners.

Bangalore was one of the most important markets of Wayanad,due to its proximity and potential. The present rains that happened in August has created quite some confusions in the minds of people on Wayanad.

Wayanad is blessed with bountiful rain fall every year, there are some times where there will be excessive down pours ,that will temporality create swollen streams, which subsides as the rains recede. The land  being undulating and sloppy facilitate, faster draining of water. This year due to intense rainfall in short period the same happened and created temporary flooding and mud slides, with a few land slips. Wayand was back  to normal in a short span of time, thanks to the rapid action by disaster management team, district administration ,the naval team and the local people. In fact Wayanad was ready by end august with almost all destinations open ,none of the resorts or hotels were damaged by the rains that it has to be shut down. Rest assured Wayanad is ready to host clients and is greener than before.

To reiterate this point WTO in association with well wishers from Bangalore from

Riders / jeepers and from travel fraternity are doing a “WAYANAD CALLING” rally  on 6th October from Bangalore (The lalit ) @6 am to go through Mysore ,post lunch flag off ( Hotel Windflower)…vrooooom past to Wayanad for a grand reception at border by the Local MLA & heads of District administration.

These friends of Wayanad will be hosted by Wayanad Tourism Organisation in its member properties for the night and they leave the next day post lunch from Wayanad having completed the task !!
