  • Chennai: For the first time ever, India’s streets can be viewed in 360-degree walkthroughs on any Android smartphone. Genesys International Corporation (NSE GENESYS), India’s leading geospatial solutions company, today announced the availability of the WoNoBo Mobile App on the Play Store. Any mobile user can download the app for free and search for, explore or share ‘points of interest’ across the length and breadth of the country.

WoNoBo logosWhat this means, in effect, is that panoramic images of an entire country are now in the palm of one’s hand!

The app presently covers 14 major Indian cities and will soon be expanded to 54, covering 70 percent of the country’s urban economy. It will also enable businesses and marketers to eventually offer a plethora of services.

Commenting on the launch, Sajid Malik, CMD, Genesys International, said, “The WoNoBo App makes it possible for Indians to share aspects of their lives in a manner that simply hasn’t been possible before. We are India’s first and only 360 degree view service on the mobile platform. Users can share their schools, colleges, offices, favourite restaurants and just about anything else they love about India’s cities. Users can also access over 10 million ‘points of interests’ such as hotels, retail outlets, monuments, parks, etc. and view the interiors of key locations as well.”

“There are a number of potential use cases for the WoNoBo App that we hope businesses and individuals will exploit to the fullest extent. We hope something as mundane as sending someone directions, for example, will be a whole lot easier from now on,” added Amit Mehta, Head of Products and Marketing, WoNoBo.com.

India is the world’s second largest mobile market (900 million subscribers) and also has a rapidly growing Internet population. The mobile Internet user base is expected to cross 185 million by the end of 2014 (IAMAI), while the number of smartphone users is expected to cross 155 million by 2017 (IDC). Users are increasingly accessing and sharing rich information including high-res images and videos and also consuming several location-based services using mobile devices.
