  • Zest, creativity and potential comes to fore at iFest, 2010

    New Delhi: The annual festival of IILM Institute for Higher Education, iFest, was held on 17th and 18th November, 2010 at IILM Lodhi Road and Gurgaon respectively. iFest is organized every year wherein participation from premier undergraduate and post graduate colleges from all over the country is witnessed.

    The festival included 23 zestful individual competitions and was flagged off with the solo singing competition wherein everyone was left spell-bound by the depth of performances by various participants. Simultaneously other events such as Food Festival, Graffiti – spray painting, Best manager, T-shirt painting, Management quiz, Photography, Basketball tournament were conducted wherein students showcased their creativity, potential, innovation and zeal. Broadcast Work Culture was a perfect combination of reality and technicality wherein participants had put their ideas onto a screen to convey important messages to the masses. All the activities and events were conceived and organized by the students and demonstrated the true potential of students coming from various educational institutions.

    The next event, Step Up, solo dancing competition, unleashed the imagination of the participants wherein they embraced all human emotions to strike a chord with the audience besides showcasing their dancing skills. The Theatre competition saw an exciting combination of drama, sensitivity, acting prowess and stage presence of the participants.

    Corporate Walk, was the most popular event which was a major crowd puller as it portrayed the attire worn in the corporate sector. The participants wore corporate attire and creatively showcased themselves on the ramp. Ms. Shilpa Dhingra, CEO of Orient Craft – the biggest export house in India, graced the occasion to judge the event. The event witnessed the participation of various colleges like Maitreyi College, Shivaji College, KMC, JMC, Hansraj, Khalsa, GGSIP, Dyal Singh, Venky, College of Vocational Studies, IILM Lodhi Road and Gurgaon. Corporate Walk was the last show to close the series of events on the 17th.

    After the inauguration of iFest on the second day at the Gurgaon campus various events such as Dalal Street, Face painting, Ad mad, treasure hunt and street play took place. The first event, Dalal Street, demonstrated how the participants recreated the magic of stock market in a classroom bringing out the ups and downs of the real stock market in hypothetical situations. Ru Ba Ru, the street play witnessed the participation from 10 colleges wherein the students manifested their acting skills and designed plays on issues that need to be addressed showing their originality and ingenuity with the screenplay and dialogues.

    Other events such as Ad Mad and Face Painting generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm amongst the students. On one hand, wherein the participants were splashing the colors of iFest in face painting, simultaneously the selling skills of upcoming managers were seen in the Ad mad show.

    Dance till you Drop and Rock Band Competition were the two most popular events at iFest, Gurgaon. Dance till you drop was a synchronization of the mind and the body where participants performed on a medley of their favorite songs. Rock Band show was more than just a competition where the students grooved the crowd by playing some rocking tunes.

    iFest unleashed the true potential of the young would be managers coming from various educational institutions. It was a runaway success not just because the students participating in it were pro-active, but also because all the individual events of the fest ensured that their talent was judged in an unbiased manner.
