  • Mumbai: India and China have had relations for more than 2,000 years, but the modern relationship began in 1950. Since 1988 both countries are engaged in bringing their people together through structured Cultural Exchange Programme’s. Cooperation in a gamut of cultural fields including exchanges of visits of performing artists, officials, writers, archivists and archaeologists, Cao-Yanli2organizing cultural festivals, film festivals and exchanges in the field of mass media, youth affairs and sports.  To enhance these Indo-China relations and improve cultural exchange, Musician’s Federation of India (MFI) is hosting 2nd Edition of “Silk Road”, an Indo-China music concert tour to be held in Mumbai, India on February 18th, 2017 at Royal Opera House, Charni Road, near Girgaum Chowpatty beach.

    The first edition of “Silk Road” was hosted in 3 Indian cities namely Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Raipur in January 2016. Musician’s Federation of India (MFI) is hosting the “2nd edition Silk Road” this year at Mumbai, Indore and Nagpur from 18th to 24th February 2017. This year, there will be 8 artists from China who would be performing in collaboration with 3 Indian artists. Several popular and talented musicans like Cao Yanli, Chen Feng, Luo Zhangcheng, Chen Yuqi, Xie Dongxiao, Chen Yifei, Zheng Ce, will be performing at the “Silk Road”. “These musicians will be playing traditional Chinese instruments like Guzheng, Erhu, Pipa etc. The sounds of the instruments will be accompanied by the popular Chinese vocalist  Ma Qijun, who will be rendering her soulful voice and taking a memorable journey in music”, shares Mr. Kishor Jawade, General Secretary, Musician’s Federation of India. Several Indian Musicians like Ratish Tagde(Violin), Kishore Jawade(Percussion), Sunil Verma(flute) will be accompanying the Chinese performers. The second half of the show will be a Jugalbandi between Indian and Chinese Musicians, which will bring out the best in all the musicians and singers. There will also be special moment where a Chinese Vocalist Ma Qijun will be rendering an Indian number.The Concerts Director is Kishor Jawade and the event is organised byMusicians Federation of India.

    Also dignitaries like Mr. XIONG Wei – Deputy Secretary-General, Composer, Chinese Musicians Association (CMA) Mr. ZHONG Shanjin – Vice-President, Flute Player, Guangdong Literature and Art Vocational College (GLAVC) Mr. SHENG Changjie – Officer, CMA Research Department and also various dignitaries from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, Mumbai will be attending the musical show.

    MFI is a NGO dedicated to the welfare of musicians in India. It is affiliated to the International Federation of Musicians and to the Member of International Music Council (Paris). MFI has been engaged in various cultural exchange programs between India, China and other countries.
