  • Jalpaiguri (Hindusthan Samachar): At least 10 persons were injured in a clash between CPIM and Trinamool workers here last night. They were released from hospital after primary treatment.

    The Post poll violence broke out at Kranti area of Jalapiguri district on Friday night as allegedly Trinamool supporters vandalized the house of CPIM leader Habibur Rahaman.

    According to police, tension between Trinamool and CPIM started when CPIM erected election pandal in front of the house of their leader  Rahman on Thursday.

    The Trinamool cadres reportedly attacked the house of Rahman on Thursday night after the polling was complete. The CPIM leader Rahman complained to the Kranti police outpost about the incident.

    Infuriated by the complaint, Trinamool workers in the area reportedly repeatedly attacked the house of Habibur Rahman on Friday night. The CPIM supporters retaliated.

    Governor to chair St Joseph school function

    Darjeeling, April 19 (HindSam): West Bengal governor MK Narayanan will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of 125-year celebration programme of St. Joseph School, Darjeeling on  April 22.

    The celebration was inaugurated President Pranab Mukherjee in 2013. The principal of the school, St. Mathew said, that the school was established in 1890.

    The principal said a friendly cricket match would be held on the occasion besides cultural function by the students of Gandhi Ashram. Hundreds of alumni from across the world took part in the yearlong celebration ceremony of the school.
