Thiruvananthapuram: The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala has lodged a complaint on Friday (22.03.2024) against an incumbent Central Minister for violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to the Election Commission of India (ECI).  In his complaint the Chairman of Election committee (LDF), Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha Constituency has stated that Rajiv Chandrasekhar, BJP Candidate (Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha Constituency), has violated Model Code of Conduct. Chandrasekhar is a serving minister in the Modi cabinet at the centre.

As per the complaint “Rajiv Chandrashekhar is interacting with students of LBS Institute of Technology for Women on this day (22.3.2024) at 10.00 am. It is also be noted that all the students in this institute are above 18 and are casting votes in various Lok Sabha constituencies hence his interaction with these students will not be fair.” The complainant urges the ECI to take punitive procedures against the candidate, a serving union minister, for brazen violation of MCC.

The broacher of LBS Institute of Technology for Women also confirms about the “INTERACTIVE SESSION OF Shri. RAJEEV CHANDRA SEKHAR Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Government of India WITH STUDENTS on 22nd MARCH 2024 FRIDAY 10:00 AM.”

According to a senior LDF leader, the BJP candidate has no concern for the MCC or the rule of law for “many of the BJP leaders presume they and their party are above any rule of law and no one should dare to question them for any violations. They are behaving as if they have won the elections even before contesting.”
