Another achievement of the IPLEX 14 was it tried its best to dispel a myth that plastics are not recyclable. On the contrary, Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment(ICPE) is a non-profit, independent body. Communicated so firmly that the“Plastics are 100% Recyclable”.  Plastic Contributes 6% of our municipal solid waste and 94% of Municipal waste is made up of other materials. 7 lakh trees can be saved annually by using plastic for packaging and transporting apples alone. Similarly, Plastic Furniture has helped save 1,40,000 cubic meters of wood.  The Average consumption of Plastic in India is 7kg as against the world average 29kgs.

This body is set up on the recommendation of a Task Force constituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forest(MoEF).  It is a nodal agency to handle all issues related to Plastics and the Environment in the country.

The next year editions on rotation basis will be held in September 2015 in Bangalore.
