4-G Services, now operational  in some European countries, could be introduced in India as a pilot project soon.
This was stated by Chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Dr. J.S Sarma. He also said the Mobile Number Portability scheme will become operational from the First of November.

Addressing a Seminar in Punducherry today, he said the kind of convergence between Telecom and Broadcasting on one hand and Mobile and fixed Networks on the other hand will change the entire phase of communication in India in next 5 years.

Dr Sarma said the entire Telecom and Broadcasting Sector will be digitized by 2013. The digitization will provide quality service at affordable rates.

To improve the quality of service by Telecom Service providers, the quality service auditing will be done quarterly from this year instead of yearly.
