Bangalore: The Infusion Nurses Society (INS), the premier professional organization for infusion nurse specialists, has appointed Col. Binu Sharma as the Secretary General of its Indian chapter for a period of two years. The body is represented by a number of renowned healthcare organizations globally.

In her role as General Secretary, Col. Binu Sharma will be responsible for developing patient centered plans of care to meet the Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice across India. Currently, Col. Binu Sharma is the Vice President of Nursing Services for Columba Asia Hospitals. She is responsible for managing all existing and upcoming projects in terms of resource planning, recruitment, skill development, specialized training and development of nursing service standards

She started her career with the Indian Army as a Lieutenant Nursing Officer in 1980 and served till 2002. Prior to joining Columbia Asia, she served as Nursing Officer for Max Healthcare responsible for nursing architecture, policy making, resource and budget planning, Nursing training and other skill development among others.

“With today’s complex health care environment, the Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice will be an invaluable guide in decision making and advancing the delivery of quality therapy to patients,” said Binu.

In India, the aim of INS is to promote the implementation of various ways to improve patient care and outcomes and encourage the dissemination of knowledge about I.V. therapy. It will focus on the expansion and enhancement of reimbursements to improve the level of services for current as well as future patients.

The Infusion Nurses Society located in Norwood, MA, is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1973. INS is setting the benchmark for healthcare professionals who seek to provide excellent infusion care by way of promoting research and education in the infusion nursing practice.
