Palo Alto, California: The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology has partnered with the India Semiconductor Association (ISA) to provide a new track at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India, December 14-16, 2011 at the KTPO Trade Centre, Bangalore, India. ISA is the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry and has represented it since 2005. ISA is committed towards building global awareness for the Indian ESDM industry and supporting its growth through focused initiatives in developing the ecosystem.

The ISA session on Women in Technology – Semiconductor, Systems and Electronics will take place on Thursday, December 15th and features a panel discussion on “Opportunities and Growth in the Semiconductor industry.” Eminent panelists from ISA member companies will share their views on the opportunities and growth potential in the semiconductor industry. The panel will also touch upon the innovation that lies ahead and challenges faced.

“The Anita Borg Institute is proud to be partnering with the ISA. This partnership is an excellent example of organizations working together on the challenges of recruiting, retaining and advancing women in technology. Research shows diverse technical teams are more innovative and profitable. As India continues to thrive in the areas of research and technology development, partnerships like the one between ISA and the Anita Borg Institute will help organizations and society benefit from technical women’s contributions. Technical women are the key to India’s future success,” said Deanna Kosaraju, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for the Anita Borg Institute.

“The demand in the Indian market of ESDM industry was USD 45 Billion in 2008-09 and is expected to reach USD 400 Billion by 2020. ISA supports the growth of this industry through various focused initiatives through publishing credible data, networking events and alliances with other international associations. We are proud to be associated with The Anita Borg Institute for the ‘Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India’ which shares a similar vision for the technical women and the aspiring young students in the field of technology,” said PVG Menon, President, India Semiconductor Association.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India is designed to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront. Leading researchers present their current work, while special sessions focus on the role of women in today’s technology fields, including computer science, information technology, research and engineering. The technical conference features well known keynote speakers, panels, workshops, technical posters, birds of a feather sessions and an Awards Celebration.
