  • Atmanirbhar Bharat has connect with Housing for All, says PM Modi; Financial Assistance worth Rs 2000 cr released by PM for over 6 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Atmanirbhar Bharat has direct connection with the self-confidence of the countrymen and own house under PMAY-G amplifies this confidence and makes them believe that they can overcome any obstacles in life.



    The Prime Minister today released financial assistance of around Rs 2,691 crore to six lakh 10 thousand beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing. The assistance includes release of first installment to 5.30 lakh beneficiaries and second installment to 80 thousand beneficiaries who have already availed first installment of assistance under PMAY-G.



    Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the PMAY-G was launched five years ago and in a short span of time, the scheme has given confidence to the poor people of the country  that they can have their own houses. UP is among the states that provide houses for the poor in a speedy manner.



    Mr Modi said, more than two crore houses have been built in the country under the PMAY-G to end the miseries of the roofless people of the country.

    The Prime Minister said, when the scheme was launched in 2016, the State government of that time did not provide any support to the scheme and people can never forget that. He said that a total of 22 lakh houses will be constructed in UP under the scheme and most of the work is being done during the present government.



    Terming the houses under PMAY-G as a tool of women empowerment, Mr Modi said that they are empowering women in rural India since most of the houses are being allotted to the lady of the family. Many add on facilities like gas and electricity connection are being provided to every house.



    The Prime Minister praised the UP government for speedy implementation of Central Government Schemes and also for maintaining law and order in a better manner.


    Mr. Modi said, in more than 8,500 villages of UP, the work is complete and more than 51 thousand land proofs or Gharauni were provided to the beneficiaries.

    Calling Pradhan Mantri Swamitwa Yojana as a game changer for the people living in rural areas, Mr Modi said that it will end many land issues in villages. He asked the people to take maximum benefit of the scheme since it will also help them in getting loans from banks and will further increase the value of their land.

    Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, for the first time Rs two lakh crore is being spent in this fiscal year by the Ministry and a major part of the expenditure goes to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme which became pivotal during this COVID scenario.

    Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that till date, 14 lakh 61 thousand beneficiaries have received houses under the scheme and seven lakh 10 thousand applications have been approved this year. Now in almost every village of the state one can see the houses under the scheme.

    AIR Correspondent reports that  the Prime Minister also spoke with beneficiaries of five districts Kheeri, Chitrakoot, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Saharanpur on the occasion.



    Last Year, the Uttar Pradesh Government excelled by implementing this scheme in an exemplary manner and was given nine national awards in different categories by the Union Rural Development Ministry.


    So far 1.26 crore houses have been built across the country under PMAY-G which was launched by the Prime Minister on the 20th of November, 2016. Along with the financial grant the beneficiaries of PMAY-G, are also provided support of unskilled labour wages under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and assistance of Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets through Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin.
