  • Brandon Chillar commits to EFLI

    MUMBAI : Elite Football League of India (EFLI) today announced the appointment of Brandon Chillar as Executive Vice President of Coaching and Game Development.

    Brandon Chillar is one of four players of Indian-American descent to ever play in the world renowned National Football League (NFL). BrandonⳠinvolvement in EFLI will now bridge the international gap that lies between India and the United States for the first ever, professional American-style football league in India. Brandon Chillar, recently showcased in Sports Illustrated India, was a standout athlete in both college at the University of California, Los Angeles, and as a professional player and member of the 2011 Superbowl champions, the Green Bay Packers. Mr. Chillar’s financial investment solidifies his commitment.

    Speaking on the occasion, Brandon Chillar said, 㼯i>I am very excited about this opportunity. I am looking forward to the full support of the Indian government and India’s top broadcasting company to bring forth the perfect game of football for the country, its people and the TV viewers. Without a doubt, this is relatively a fundamentally simple game to perfect and I am fully committed to champion to fruition. It wasn’t until my recent visit to India that I realized the real opportunity that exists. I have wanted to coach since I first started playing football as a boy.伯span>

    Brandon’s father, Mr. Ram Chillar, will also join the company. “When I was first introduced to this concept, I thought it was a great idea, but being a very conservative business man and of Indian descent, I initially delayed. However, after witnessing a year of hyper development, I am more than convinced that this is an idea worth being a part of.” Ram also stated, “I experienced the gift of football first hand and how it affected my son’s life through scholarships, education, athletic prowess and career. I am delighted to partner in bringing this opportunity to the children of my homeland.”

    Speaking about the appointment, Mr. Richard Whelan, CEO, EFLI said, 㔨is is another monumental day for the EFLI. Brandon’s participation in the EFLI will markedly touch the lives of children of India. Brandon is a loving, intelligent and gifted man. I am very appreciative to have him in our team.     The ELFI is India’s first professional American-style football league, backed by the Government of India and the Sports Authority of India. Launched on August 5, 2011 the aim of the league is to introduce American-style football to the Indian market and its large consumer base. The inaugural season of the EFLI will be played from November 2012 through to February 2013.The first season of EFLI will be held at a custom-fit stadium in Pune between eight teams from Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Punjab and hosts Pune.
