  • Budding designers display their talent at “Portfolio 2011”

    New Delhi: Portfolio 2011 – the annual graduating event of Pearl Academy of Fashion students saw young talents put together a mesmerizing show of innovation, flair and creative genius for a diverse group of industry professionals.

    Portfolio – a signature event of Pearl Academy of Fashion – has been established as one of the sought after events in the fashion and design industry as it provides a platform for students to showcase their flair, versatility and innovativeness through an extensive array of outfits based on vast themes.

    The collaborative effort by the graduating students of the 4-year BA (Honours) is aimed at showcasing their innovative design solutions and construction techniques to the industry. Students are required to demonstrate their aptitude for design development, fashion presentation, market knowledge and trend forecasting skills acquired through industry exposure and the duration of their course at Pearl. The event was officiated by Mr. Rajiv Arora, Former Chairman of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC).

    Mr. Arindam Das, Director PAF, Jaipur added, “Portfolio is a platform for our students to showcase their creativity, versatility and innovativeness, and also demonstrate their agility in responding to the ever evolving fashion landscape. With each passing year, the quality and the designs created by the students has improved substantially and “Portfolio 2011″ is now acknowledged as one of the biggest fashion events in Jaipur.”

    Students of the 4-year full-time B.A. (Honours) Programme in Fashion Design (FDUG) presented 50 outfits while the 2-year full time PG Diploma Programe in Fashion Design (FDPG)presented 7 collections which were inspired byboth Indian indigenous motifs and fabrics and modern techniques.

    The fashion extraordinairewas followed by an awards ceremony, where awards were given for “Most Innovative Collection”, “Most Practical Collection” and “Best Design Collection”. The panel of jury members included Ms. RomanieJaitely, and Ms.MadhulikaTibrewala, noted textile and fashion designers.
