  • Three generations, three journeys, three inspiring stories, the best of women in design

New Delhi : The role of women in design has always been woefully under-represented. Not because they are a minority, on the contrary, it’s a woman’s world out there. It just so happens, the accolades land up favouring the muscular sex from the two. There are many Indian women designers whose works are easy to recognise, but whose names have escaped popular imagination. It’s a disparity and we want to get to the bottom of it.

In a first of its kind, Kohler pairs up with GoodHomes Magazine India to conceptualise ‘Building Women’, a video micro-series that brings together three generations of women designers to discuss their journey, the challenges they’ve faced, the present scenario they find themselves in and the future forecast they wish to accomplish for themselves.

Joining us we have architect Sonali Bhagwati, designer Nancy Satish, architect Aditi Pai, designer Pooja Bihani, designer Shivani Ajmera and architect Abhinaya R. Divided in groups of two, three of the above names sit down in one of the most candid, uninterrupted, and honest conversations.

The time has come to tip the scales. This series is a felicitation and a discourse, all rolled into one. The main hope with this series is to start a dialogue and create an inclusive community that is built by women, for women. From the stalwarts who have broken barriers and made roads for aspiring women behind them to the young and eager minds who traverse unfamiliar paths…we are bridging the gap to bring everyone under the spotlight, under one roof.

Building Women by Kohler x GoodHomes Magazine India is a fierce attempt to identify the unwavering warriors who have steadfastly created, crafted, curated, and conceptualised better, more meaningful ways of living.

This International woman’s day on the 8th of March 2022, it’s time to celebrate the heart of a woman and the passion with which she conducts her work in the many fields of design. It’s time to build women!
