  • First Major Renovation in 30 Years Allows Family Gateway to Continue Providing Homeless Families and Children Safe Shelter, Innovative and Comprehensive Services and Hope

    Published on April 29, 2015

Family gatewayDallas, TX : Family Gateway is leading the Dallas community to end child homelessness. For the first time in 30 years, the primary facility, Annette G. Strauss Family Gateway Center (Center) dedicated to homeless children and families has received a significant renovation. The Center has new flooring throughout, new ceiling, fresh paint, fully renovated bathrooms and plumbing and a cohesive overall design. The remodel is full of personal touches including framed inspirational messages, apartment style door numbers for a sense of privacy and pride, warm décor accents throughout and a new welcoming lobby. In addition to these enhancements, the Center updated their roof, HVAC/AC system and commercial-grade kitchen in 2008.

The facts surrounding child homelessness are startling. In the last 3 years, the number of families served by Family Gateway grew 750%. Each night in Dallas, an estimated 5,000 children and their families will not have a safe place to sleep. These children are at risk with their health, education, repeating the cycle and most of all at risk for no hope of a brighter future.
