  • Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India register 1.4 per cent growth in Dec’10

    Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India registered a growth of 1.4 per cent during December 2010 as compared to same period in previous year.

    According to an official release, 6.55 lakh tourists visited India as compared to 6.46 lakh in December 2009. There were a total 5.58 million foreign visitors in India during 2010 as compared to 5.11 million in 2009, registering a 9.3 per cent growth.

    The release said The foreign exchange earnings from tourism during the month of December were 7,039 crore rupees as compared to 7,042 crore rupees for the same period in 2009. India earned a total of 64,889 crore rupees as foreign exchange from tourism in 2010 as compared to 54,960 crore rupees in 2009, showing a growth rate of 18.1 per cent.
