  • Indian Institute of Job Training in Association with APS conducts a State Level Faculty Development program

    Bangalore : IIJT Education and APS College today launched organized a Faculty development Program to support Faculty members from more than 50 colleges excel in the performance of their educational responsibilities. The program, to be held every year, will impart soft skills and competencies to its attendees and enable them to undertake different teaching roles.

    IIJT believes that with the advances in technology and its rapid adoption by the Indian industry, it is essential that the teachers should develop an aptitude for lifelong learning and have an exposure to developments in their field through Staff Development Programmes. Such programmes not only focus on enhancing functional area expertise, but also on improving one’s classroom delivery both as a teacher and trainer; as well as on enhancing abilities for conducting meaningful research.

    According to Mr. Shajan Samuel, Divisional Head – IIJT Education, “Faculty Development is a critical aspect of IIJT developmental activities; currently we are working with colleges through Industry Interface, HOD Participation in our curriculum review panel, campus Interviews amongst a host of things. The FDP Program is more skewed towards soft skills and aims at bringing experts to more than 100 teachers/ professors and HOD’s across Karnataka in a unique knowledge and idea sharing initiative under one roof. We realize that knowledge has to be synthesized with interpersonal skills, communication skills, emotional intelligence & other behavioral skills to make education more holistic and this is the theme of this program.”

    Dr M.Ramachandra Gowda Professor & Chairman Department of Commerce of the Bangalore University welcomed this move and said with the Indian education sector is experiencing  radical changes due to the introduction of new technologies and the globalization of education business .Today’s FDP Program will empower educators to share their knowledge ,ideas and best practices with delegates .

    Jaahnavi Katti, CEO- KeyKonnecct said, “We live in an era of knowledge and communication revolution, so new generations of learners are in need for a faculty member that has advanced potentials and qualifications in line with developments taking place globally in the field of higher education and research; old means of learning, teaching and training are no longer able to meet the needs of generations and communities of the 21st century.”

    The program brought on board experts from various parts of the world in addition to internal staff from within the university and will be delivered using a hybrid model which combines face to face session, online collaboration using both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration tools and self paced learning. The new program already started with the first training session which was attended by most of the university faculty and senior academic administrators.

    Shri T.V.Murthy President APS educational trust said that we wouldn’t stop with this ,we would in Partnership with IIJT Education will try to make it a quarterly event and improve with every Program .He said he was happy  to see that the program was interactive  and Provided a Platform for the exchange of ideas and opportunities within the realm of the growing Indian education sector .
