  • Lenovo launches slim & powerful Smartphones

    Published on June 5, 2013

Chennai : Lenovo, the world’s third largest maker of ‘smart connected’ devices today pulled the wraps off a line-up of its latest smartphones, from entry-level devices to top-end performance phones with a strong Lenovo S920battery life. Each Lenovo smartphone is designed taking into consideration specific customer needs for India. Today’s launch marks the availability of Lenovo smartphones across 3000 retail outlets in India.

Lenovo’s innovation leadership was recognized with a record 50 awards at CES 2013. As Lenovo drives deeper into the PC+ era, innovation will be a defining feature of the company’s growth. The new Lenovo smartphones are designed to be slim, elegant and powerful with different devices playing different roles, led by the Lenovo K900 smartphone, the company’s flagship model.

As smartphones have become ubiquitous, customer demands on “top-of-the-line” devices have increased, with design and usability growing in importance. Lenovo and Intel have raised the bar for smartphones with the powerful yet refined Lenovo K900 smartphone. At 6.9mm, the K900 is the thinnest phone in its class by a wide margin and weighs a mere 162g, making it a device that unobtrusively slips into a jacket pocket or handbag. Made from a composite of stainless steel alloy and polycarbonate in a unibody mold, the K900 manages to stay strong and look sharp while maintaining its slim profile. The S series (S820, 920) is the entertainment device, P series (P780) comes with heavy duty battery life, and the A series (A706, 390) is for the youthful and the first time smartphone users

Milko Van Duijl, Senior VP, Lenovo, said, “Our fourth fiscal quarter results clearly demonstrate strong business momentum. Our ultimate goal is to use innovation to differentiate Lenovo and become not only a leading PC+ brand, but also one of the most respected technology companies in the world. Our strategy for India will focus strongly on smartphones.”

Amar Babu, Managing Director, Lenovo India, commented, “The journey for Lenovo smartphones in India that  began last year November, takes a whole new dimension with the launch of 6 new power-packed mobile Lenovo launches a wide range of slim & powerful Smartphonesdevices, which offer an excellent choice for smartphone buyers in India. Our retail footprint has grown considerably to 3000 retail stores, since we launched our first range of Smartphone last year. We will continue to expand our reach across India.”

As per IDC Q113: Smartphones have out-shipped feature phones for the first time in history. Lenovo is fully committed to PCs and this means the company must continue with PC+ transformation to drive growth. Lenovo sees a “PC+ Evolution” not a “Post PC Revolution” in which the PC remains central to the digital lives of millions of people and businesses as well as at the heart of an ecosystem of tablets, smart phones and smart TVs and includes all major operating systems, chipsets, apps and cloud-delivered services.

“Intel and Lenovo have raised the bar for smartphones with the K900. Our teams got together and worked closely to innovate around a number of important features and capabilities that our customers care most about such as power consumption, application switching and camera functionality. Then the Lenovo design team took this powerful platform and wrapped it up in a very attractive package with the K900. We are proud to be teaming with Lenovo to bring these innovations to market,” said Debjani Ghosh, MD-Sales and Marketing, Intel South Asia.
