    Published on September 11, 2012

Singapore :  Morgan Technical Ceramics today announced it will exhibit a range of advanced product offerings for the medical industry at the inaugural Medical Manufacturing Asia 2012, set to take place at Suntec Singapore from 12 – 14 September, 2012. Morgan Technical Ceramics stand will be located at E39, Hall 401, under the Singapore Precision Engineering & Tooling Association (SPETA) pavilion.

Morgan Technical Ceramics is a business within the Morgan Ceramics Division of Morgan Crucible Company plc, one of the world’s leading advanced materials companies. Morgan Technical Ceramics is an innovative manufacturer of high quality ceramic components and implantable devices which can be found in surgical tools, medical instrumentation, therapeutic and diagnostic equipment. Morgan Technical Ceramics’ medical engineering expertise is also widely used to develop products which improve the quality of life for patients and reduce costs for healthcare providers.

“Morgan Technical Ceramics is a witness to the accelerated development of the biomedical sciences industry in Singapore. Today, the island-state continues to strengthen its position as an international biomedical hub providing the most advanced products and services to enable long life and address complex medical needs. The business is dedicated to delivering high quality ceramics and medical engineering expertise that fosters innovations in the medical technology manufacturing industry,” said Ricky Chua, Sales & Marketing Manager, Southeast Asia, Morgan Ceramics.

Morgan Technical Ceramics will promote its range of components used in instrumentation and diagnostic equipment such as ultrasonic imaging, X-Ray, CAT and MRI scanners.

The company will also display bioceramic hip joints, which compared to alternative materials, have exceptionally low wear rates and enable patients to continue to lead active lifestyles.

Morgan Technical Ceramics will also introduce Ultinex(TM), a next generation brazing technology which utilises active brazing technology and additional proprietary processes for joining ceramics to metals. Compared to traditional brazing, Ultinex(TM) brazing frees up processing time resulting in shorter lead times, lower work in process and less fall out. An additional benefit is that material selection is broader which can lead to higher performing designs and ultimately better solutions.

Examples of specialised ceramic-to-metal assemblies for implantable devices include pacemakers used to regulate the beating of the heart, and ceramic speech valves, used to restore speech and vocal functions for throat cancer patients that have undergone laryngectomy, or, removal of the larynx.

Morgan Technical Ceramics personnel will be available at stand E39, Hall 401 at the Suntec Singapore to answer questions and offer advice and recommendations on the use of its ceramic components in medical applications.
