  • Olympic Swimmer Virdhawal Khade encourages the youth to vote!

    Mumbai : India’s number 1 swimmer, Arjuna Awardee, Virdhawal Khade was at Khar  – the 177 Bandra West Constituency, in his role as The Assistant Electoral Officer in order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process.

    The Government of India has instituted January 25th as the National Voters Day to encourage new voters, who had turned 18, to get enrolled in the electoral rolls.

    Eligible voters were enrolled and handed over their Electoral Photo Identity card (EPIC).

    The initiative is expected to give the youth a sense of empowerment, pride and inspire them to exercise their franchise.

    Says Virdhawal Khade, ‘As a democracy, it’s very important that people participate in the process of selection of government. This is a great initiative and I hope everyone who’s turned 18 and is not yet on the rolls, does so.’

    The new voters were provided with a badge with its logo “Proud to be a voter- Ready to vote”.
