  • Payment Service Provider GlobalCollect Obtains License Pursuant To European Payment Service Directive

    Published on November 29, 2010

Netherlands : The Dutch Central Bank recently granted GlobalCollect a license as a Payment Institute, a so-called Payment Services Directive (PSD) license. The PSD provides a system of licenses for Payment Service Providers, lays down information requirements regarding payment services, and lists rights and obligations of both Payment Service Providers and users. The aim of this Directive is to ensure the user-friendliness, safety, and efficiency of payments throughout the European Union / European Economic Area – in particular credit transfers, direct debit mandates, card payments, and so-called money transfers. It introduces and harmonizes rules concerning the providers of payment services.

Jan Manten, CEO of GlobalCollect, said: “The fact that GlobalCollect obtained a license as a Payment Institute is a milestone in our very own 15+-year history which reflects the professionalism and industry knowledge of GlobalCollect and its employees. At the same time, it marks the coming of age of the e-commerce industry which emerged 10+ years ago. With this license, GlobalCollect will be able to continue to provide the service portfolio its merchants expect and expand it further while giving them the peace of mind of working with a certified Payment Service Provider.”
