“We welcome the proposed reduction in import duties on broodstocks, shrimp larvae feed, and related aquaculture input products. The changes announced in this year’s budget will relieve the hatcheries as this can ease and encourage broodstock imports and eventually lead to higher production with better access to quality seeds for the farmers. In the future, we hope to see more focus on insurance subsidies for farmers to help mitigate production risks and introduction to schemes that boost financial inclusion in the aquaculture sector.”
