  • Siliguri : Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the first and Number one fm station of North Bengal and Sikkim have partnered with the Gitanjali Mango Festival to be held from 10th June at the Utsav, Uttorayon Township, in Siliguri. This is the biggest mango festival of the region. Cultural shows and competitions will be organised during this event. This festival is dedicated to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, so the title Gitanjali is added to Mango Festival.

    Taking into consideration, the response at the tourism stalls, this year a special travel mart will be organized. Rural Tourism Bazaar, based on the theme ‘connecting heritage beyond boundaries’, which will be coordinated by Association for Conservation & Tourism (ACT).

    This event will have Mango Exhibition and Competition, Mango Eating Competition, Cookery Classes and Mango Recipe Competition, Seminars, Sit & Draw, Picture Postcard Art, Picture Story Writing, Mango Quiz, Ethnic Dress Competition, Face of the Day and Cultural Programs. The new activities which will be added would include Alpana Competitions (revival of a old domestic art form of Bengal), Poster Exhibition based on Heritage Sites of Bengal, A Trio of Films from Shekhar Das will be video projected by the Director himself who will be available for interaction, Ajoy Roy’s documentaries of Bengal and India’s Northeast will be projected by the maker himself and more surprises to come during the Festival.

    Says Nishant Mittal, Chief Executive officer, Radio Misty we had supported this festival last year also. This year we will create big buzz around this event. Beside promotions on radio we will have radio jockeys hosting game shows at the venue.
